After about 10 days away, the skirt finally got to strut its stuff (on Friday, 8th Jan). They´re not the most practical attire for travelling, as I don´t like to carry money in a bag (maybe I should sew a little pocket inside it?). But it was a lovely breezy afternoon in Belize, so after arriving in sleepy little Corozal, just near the Mexican border, I decided to get it out.
I strolled down the streets, wandered along the edge of the bay, got chatted up by a guy - politely refused his offers to act as my guide, watched a bunch of other guys pulling in nets of lots of little white fish on a jetty, and just enjoyed soaking it all in.
I ate dinner - freshly made empanandas - at a little stall just outside the ´guesthouse´where I was staying. The couple who own the place were having dinner as well, so the mother got her oldest daughter to make them. They had a TV set up there, so I sat on a stool outside with them and caught up on the latest events of Belize.

Christmas Day!!
Christmas was a bonny wet day for a bonny wee skirt. It dripped and splashed and laughed and played. Such a refreshing change to the usual summer weather!
And we were woken by Santa at 4:30am (accidentally, of course :P) and cooked and feasted and hung with friends and dozed off our aching stomachs and played Monopoly (finish? of course not) and Blokus.
It was a great day.

Today the skirt learnt things about child language development in Psychology (I do hope it was paying attention, it might come in handy for my exam!). Then it spent a lot of time in the library - literature section, to be exact.
Then it came with me to the vampires (ahem! I mean the Bloodbank of course) and reclined elegantly upon the bed with me while my lifeblood ebbed away... (but not all of it! They left enough for me to write this. I shall die later - ahhhhhhhhh!.......) Ok, enough melodrama for one night.
Then it looked on as I baked ginger slice, and managed very cleverly to stay flour-free.
Finally, it came to an end-of-semester dinner. There its carefully-maintained cleanliness did not last long, as a young friend of mine dripped watermelon juice on it and gently smeared it with breadcrumbs! C'est la vie.
